Hatch Escapes

Lab Rat

Why escape from a room when you can escape into one? At Hatch, we believe escape rooms are an art. That's why our rooms are built by professional artists and scripted by a New York Times bestselling author. Our very first adventure, Lab Rat, is now open for bookings.

Lab Rat takes place in a laboratory where giant rats are doing experiments on human beings, specifically you! The somewhat unhinged Ratkenstein, a doctoral student in the field of human intelligence (or, in his estimation, the lack thereof), has tasked you with completing a series of tests and puzzles. If you succeed, he can finally write his dissertation. If you fail, he’s going to put you and your friends in the old test-subject chipper (like a wood chipper, but for test subjects!). You’ll have one hour to complete the tests and attempt to get out of the laboratory for good, before Ratkenstein turns you into mulch!

Highlights/Your Opinion/Review:

The room is moderately difficult because it does combine searching, puzzling, making connections, and communicating. The puzzles are uniquely designed, but there are a few components that eat up the clock. However, the storyline was not very immersive, and it did not feel like a game due to how the room was designed. We were the “lab humans” in a facility where giant rats tested human intelligence, or lack thereof. The environment made the overall experience really fun running around a cardboard-like maze. There are a lot of fun puzzles/gimmicks that jab at human intelligence.
